    ChemVision

    Project Name

    PLASTOGULF

    Project Description

According to Plastic Crusaders, The world’s annual consumption of plastic materials has increased from around 5 million tonnes in the 1950s to nearly 100 million tonnes; thus, 20 times more plastic is produced today than 50 years ago as at 2009. This canker has rendered several cities and townships dirty and made it has greatly challenged municipal authorities. We as CHEMVISION see this perceived burden as a potential resource and have taken steps to establish this cycle.

CHEMVISION is a team of 2nd-year chemical engineering students working on a chemical by name PLASTOGULF. This reduces the volume of plastic waste up to 10% of its original volume. The residue can be reused as raw materials by recycling companies and can also be converted into solid fuel. Gases evolving upon addition of PLASTOGULF can trapped, purified and condensed to be supplied to plastic producers, fizzy drinks companies and hospitals.

    The team consists of:
    Eyram Mensah
    Mabel Antwi
    Jo-Ann Akpene
    Fredrick Bruce
    Reginald Kwame Adoko
